Baishabi festival ends with Marma Jalkeli

RANGAMATI, April 19, 2025 (BSS) – Baishabi festival in the CHT ended this evening with Jalkeli event of the Marma community.

The concluding day programmes also included cultural event, village fair, exhibition of traditional foods and attires of the Marma community.

Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs adviser Supradip Chakma joined as the chief guest at the event held under the arrangement of Rangamati Marma Cultural Organization at Chang Hla Mong Mari Stadium. 

Ambassadors of different European countries also joined the traditional Jalkeli event.

Masser President Thoai Sui Khai Marma chaired the event while general secretary Ushanu Marma Nayan and people of the Marma community from seven upazilas of Rangamati joined the event.

A colorful cultural ceremony with the participation of artistes of CHT ethnic communities was arranged. 

The fair was arranged at Rangamati Stadium where traditional foods, clothes and household items were sold.  

During the Jalkeli, Marma youths sprayed water on each other with the musical rhythm of Sangrai songs. 

Rangamati town wore a festival look on the occasion and presence of all communities of the hills in the Marma event.
