Moon Sighting Committee meets today to determine Eid-ul-Azha date

DHAKA, May 27, 2025 (BSS) - The National Moon Sighting Committee will meet this evening at the conference room of the Islamic Foundation at Baitul Mukarram in the capital to determine the date of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.

According to a press release, the meeting will be held at 6:30 pm after Maghrib prayers, with Religious Affairs Adviser Dr AFM Khalid Hossain in the chair.

The agenda includes the sighting of the moon of Zilhajj, 1446 Hijri, and the determination of the date of Eid-ul-Azha.

The Islamic Foundation has urged people to report any sighting of the Zilhajj moon by calling 02-223381725, 02-41050912, 02-41050916, or 02-41050917. Faxes can be sent to 02-223383397 or 02-9555951.

The Foundation also requested that any sightings be reported to the respective Deputy Commissioner or Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO).
