DHAKA, June 10, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said BNP acting Chairman Tarique Rahman will meet Chief Adviser (CA) Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus, who is now in the UK on a four-day official visit.

“This meeting could be a turning point in overcoming the political crisis,” he told a press conference at BNP Chairperson's Gulshan office here.

The meeting will be held on June 13 between 9 am to 11 am (London time) at the Hotel Dorchester where the CA is staying, he said.

Noting that chief adviser invited Tarique Rahman, Fakhrul said the meeting can play a positive role in the political crises that Bangladesh is facing.

“There is a lot of potential for creating a new dimension. Now it will depend on our leaders (Muhammad Yunus-Tarique Rahman) how they will take that possibility forward.

We have given full authority to the acting chairman on behalf of our party, we have prayed for his success,” said the BNP Secretary General.

Regarding the meeting with the Chief Advisor, the BNP Secretary General said, “This was discussed a few days ago, when we decided that the Chief Adviser would go to London, that since our party's acting chairman is there, a meeting could be held there.

This possibility started from then. Now it has been confirmed.”

He said a meeting of the party’s standing committee was held last night with Tarique Rahman in the chair.
