DHAKA, August 7, 2025 (BSS) - The High Court (HC) today quashed the proceedings of a case filed under the controversial Section 57 of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act against noted photographer Shahidul Alam.

A two-member High Court bench led by Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam pronounced the judgment.

Barrister Sara Hossain and Abdullah Al Noman moved the case for Shahidul.

The case was filed with the capital's Ramna Police Station on August 6, 2018, a day after the noted photographer was detained from his Dhanmondi flat. In the case, Shahidul was accused of spreading propaganda and false information against the then government during the Road Safety Movement.

He came out of jail on bail on November 20, 2018.
