DHAKA, August 13, 2025 (BSS) - Religious Affairs Adviser A F M Khalid Hossain today said the July Mass Uprising has opened the door wide for turning Bangladesh into a welfare state.

"July Uprising has created huge opportunities to make the country a welfare state. Such opportunities do not come often. We must ensure proper utilization of these opportunities, otherwise we will regret," he said.

The adviser made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a seminar titled 'Role of Students, Teachers, and Islamic Scholars in Rebuilding a New Bangladesh After the Mass Uprising' held at the IDEB council hall in the capital's Kakrail area.

The seminar was organized by Bangladesh Madrasa Students-Teachers Parishad.

Highlighting the role of madrasa students and teachers in the July Uprising, the adviser said, "Alems (Islamic scholars) have contributed to many significant historical events of this country. In some cases, they have led movements."

President of Islami Qanun (Law) Implementation Committee Abu Taher Jihadi presided over the seminar, while Dhaka University Arabic Department Professor Mohammad Rafiqul Islam presented the keynote paper.

Mawlana Khalilur Rahman Madani and Mawlana Sakhawat Hossen Razi, among others, also spoke at the event.
