RAJSHAHI, Nov 26, 2025 (BSS)- Rajshahi University (RU) has launched E-cart services today for the movement of its people, particularly students, within the campus.

In the initial stage, five E-carts were introduced and another is in the offing with the arrangement of the Rajshahi University Alumni Association (RUAA).

RU has introduced the electric shuttle cars for safer student travel, operating daily from 8am to 8pm with fares Tk 5. The service covers routes from Main gate and Binodpur gate to residential halls and administrative buildings.

Subject to necessity, more E-cart services will be introduced in the future.

Vice-chancellor Prof Saleh Hassan Naquib accompanied by Pro-vice-chancellors Prof Mayeen Uddin and Prof Farid Uddin Khan opened the service.

The e-cart service offers benefits such as making it easier for students to travel around the large campus, saving them money on transportation, and helping them attend classes and other activities on time.

It also provides an eco-friendly and safe alternative to other modes of transport like auto-rickshaws and manual rickshaws.

The service addresses the difficulty of traversing the sprawling university campus by making travel between scattered academic and administrative buildings easier for students.

By providing a low-cost it reduces the financial burden on students who previously had to spend money on battery-driven rickshaws.

As a whole, the service helps students reach their classes and other academic commitments on time, improving their overall campus experience.

Transport Administrator Prof Abdur Razzaque, RUCSU VP Mustaqur Rahman Zahid and RUAA President Rafiqul islaml Khan were present on the occasion.
