EDCL to set up vaccine & anti-venom plant in Sirajdikhan: Nurjahan

MUNSHIGANJ, Aug 16, 2025 (BSS) - Health and Family Welfare Adviser, Nurjahan Begum said today that the Essential Drugs Company Limited (EDCL) will soon set up a state-of-the-art pharmaceuticals, vaccine and anti-venom production facility in Sirajdikhan upazila, Munshiganj district.

The made the announcement during a site visit to the BISIC Chemical Industrial Park in Sirajdikhan, where the new plant will be constructed. 
 
During her visit, she directed the relevant authorities to expedite the land registration process for the project to ensure its timely implementation.

According to the project plan, the existing vaccine production unit located in Gopalganj, along with the EDCL plant in Manikganj, will be relocated to the new site. Over 40 acres of land have already been secured for the project.

The adviser also called for relocation of the ongoing anti-venom production project from Chattogram to the new facility and expressed hope that the new plant would be highly profitable, taking into account all operational and strategic aspects.

EDCL Managing Director Md Samad Mridha, along with other senior officials, was present at the site during the visit.
