DHAKA, Aug 17, 2025 (BSS) - The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in a statement today confirmed that rickshaw-puller Md. Azizur Rahman (27) who was arrested from the capital's Dhanmondi 32 area on August 15 was not accused in murder case.

After his arrest, police sent him to a Dhaka court on August 16 as a suspect in a case registered with Dhanmondi Police Station in April.

In the meantime, unnecessary false information is being spread on various media outlets including social media regarding the arrest of the rickshaw-puller and a case filed against him, which has come to the notice of DMP, it said.

In fact, the case in which detained Azizur Rahman was produced before the court as a suspect in a regular case under the Penal Code, the DMP said, adding that many are promoting the matter as a murder case, which is completely false and intentional.

"In this situation, the concerned are requested to refrain from spreading any confusion on the mentioned matter," it said.
