ZHF accords reception to former minister late Khurshid Jahan, 4 sons

DINAJPUR, Aug 18, 2025 (BSS) - Zia Heart Foundation (ZHF) and its affiliated organizations today accorded a reception to BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia's elder sister and former minister late Khurshid Jahan Haque and her four sons at Dinajpur Zia Heart Foundation and Research Institute Hospital.

The four sons of late Khurshid Jahan are Shahriar Akhter Haque Don, Dr Hasnain Akhter Haque, Sanzid Akhter Haque and Tasin Akhter Haque.

Zia Heart Foundation and Research Institute President Shahriar Akhter Haque presided over the function, while its general secretary AKM Azad presented different development activities taken by late minister Khurshid Jahan Haque.

Azad said she (Khurshid Jahan) was able to successfully carry out the development works of this district taken by Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman. The development works included Dinajpur Medical College and Hospital, Barapukuria Coal Mine, Madhyapara Kathin Shila Project, Dinajpur Haji Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Dinajpur Education Board, BKSP Academy, Art Academy, Children's Academy, Women's Handicraft Center, Dinajpur Deaf Institute and Technical Institute.

He said she had also initiated the establishment of an international standard hospital for patients suffering from heart disease in this district.

It is mentionable that late Khurshid Jahan Haque was elected lawmaker during 1991-1996 and 2001-2006 from the Sadar upazila constituency. She also served as minister for the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs.

Late Khurshid Jahan's son Shahriar Akhter extended thanks to the foundation, saying the Zia Heart Foundation and its affiliated organizations have been providing intensive health care services to the people of about eight districts of the northern region, including Greater Dinajpur, for a long time without government support.
