DHAKA, Nov 17, 2025 (BSS) – Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A M M Nasir Uddin has said that preparations for the 13th national parliamentary elections are being carried out with sincerity, patience and courage despite various challenges.

“We have to prepare for the elections amid many adversities. We are moving forward slowly, and we are progressing quite successfully,” he said.

He made the remarks while presiding over the second session on the third day of the Election Commission’s dialogue with registered political parties at the Nirbachan Bhaban conference room in Agargaon, the capital.

Reiterating that the EC is ready to face any future challenges, the CEC sought cooperation from political parties in this regard.

“We must move forward with your cooperation — throughout our overall preparations, on polling day, and even after the voting is completed,” he said.

He emphasized that there is no flaw or lack of sincerity in the Election Commission’s efforts to ensure a fair and acceptable election.

Election Commissioners Begum Tahmida Ahmad, Md. Anwarul Islam Sarker, Brigadier General (Retd.) Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah, along with senior secretaries and top officials of the EC Secretariat, were present during the session.

The CEC said they have promised the nation to hold a free, fair and acceptable election.

“Our preparations are underway to fulfill that promise. We have many major tasks ahead and have taken up additional responsibilities such as arranging voting for expatriate Bangladeshis. There is no flaw in our efforts,” he added.

Regarding the code of conduct, the CEC said that after preparing the draft, it was uploaded on the EC website to seek public opinion.

He added that many political parties and other organizations have also submitted their recommendations in writing.

“We tried to incorporate them as much as possible and finalized the code so that it is properly followed during the election,” he said.

He urged political parties to ensure that their nominated candidates adhere to the rules.

“Our politicians can directly influence the grassroots. It would be better if you, as parties, guide your candidates a little,” he stated.

On the third day of the dialogue, the EC held discussions with Zaker Party, Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party), Bangladesh Development Party, Bangladesh Islami Front, Khelafat Majlis and Jatiya Ganatantrik Party (JAGPA).
