2 dengue patients die at MMCH in 24 hours

MYMENSINGH, Nov 20, 2025 (BSS) – Two dengue patients have died in the last 24 hours while undergoing treatment at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH).

The deceased were identified as Shanti Begum, 90, of Kazipur upazila in Sirajganj, and Abdus Salam, 53, of Bhaluka upazila.

Confirming the deaths, Dr. Emdad Ullah Khan, in-charge of the dengue ward at MMCH, said Shanti Begum was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday evening, while Abdus Salam was admitted on Tuesday afternoon. Both patients died this morning.

He added that 74 dengue patients are currently receiving treatment at the hospital, including 44 men, 20 women, and 10 children.

With seven dengue-related deaths in the past week, the total number of dengue fatalities at MMCH this year has risen to 20.
