Prosecution pleads for framing charges in Jatrabari Taim killing case

DHAKA, Jan 28, 2026 (BSS) - The prosecution at the International Crimes 
Tribunal (ICT)-2 today pleaded for framing charges against all the 11 accused 
in a crimes against humanity case over the killing of college student Imam 
Hasan Taim in the capital's Jatrabari area during the July Mass Uprising.

Chief Prosecutor Muhammad Tajul Islam made the plea, while taking part in the 
hearing on the matter. The tribunal later adjourned the hearing till February 
2, when the defence is scheduled to argue on the matter.

The tribunal on December 24, 2025, took cognizance of the formal charge filed 
against 11 accused, including former Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) 
Commissioner Habibur Rahman.

Taim, a second-year student of Adamjee Nagar Government College in 
Narayanganj, was shot at close range on July 20 near the Kajla footbridge 
under Jatrabari Police Station.

According to the prosecution, police personnel later took Taim to Jatrabari 
Police Station, where he subsequently died after being subjected to torture.
