DHAKA, Feb 20, 2026 (BSS) - All preparations have been completed to observe the Martyrs' Day and International Mother Language Day with due solemnity and festivity.

Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan visited the Central Shaheed Minar on Thursday night to oversee the arrangements, DU sources said today.

During the visit, he inspected the overall preparations and exchanged views with the officials concerned to ensure the smooth observance of the day.

The VC was accompanied by Pro-VC (Administration) Prof Dr. Sayma Haque Bidisha, Pro-VC (Academic) Prof Dr. Mamun Ahmed, Treasurer Prof Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Bangladesh Open University VC Prof Dr. A B M Obaidul Islam, and National University Pro-VC Prof Md. Lutfor Rahman.

Among others, Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof Dr. Abdus Salam, Dean of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences Prof Dr. Md. Humayun Kabir, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts Prof Dr. Md. Azharul Islam Sheikh, Proctor Prof Saifuddin Ahmed, provosts of different halls, and teachers and students of the Faculty of Fine Arts were present during the inspection.
