
DHAKA, Feb 22, 2026 (BSS) - Rehan Asif Asad today formally assumed charge as Adviser to the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and the Ministry of Science and Technology.
After taking charge, he exchanged views with the heads of different departments and institutions under the Posts and Telecommunications Division at its conference room at the Secretariat.
Later, he held a meeting with officials at the conference room of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division in Agargaon.
The newly appointed adviser said initiatives have been taken to gradually introduce free or affordable internet services at various important public places across the country in line with the Prime Minister’s election pledge to ensure internet access for all.
He said plans have also been undertaken to further strengthen cyber security, data management and technological infrastructure. Besides, steps are underway to remove existing complexities related to payment gateways to facilitate international transactions for freelancers and young entrepreneurs.
Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and Minister for Science and Technology Fakir Mahbub Anam, ICT Division Secretary Shish Haider Chowdhury, and Posts and Telecommunications Division Secretary Abdun Naser Khan were present at the meetings.
