DHAKA, Feb 22, 2026 (BSS) - The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) conducted two separate enforcement operations today over allegations of providing medical services using a fake degree and obtaining employment with forged certificates, officials said in a press release from the ACC headquarters.
In the first operation, an ACC enforcement team from Bagerhat district office raided the chamber of physician Mahmudul Hasan at Badal Market, Panch Rasta Mor, Shyamnagar, Bagerhat, following complaints that he was illegally providing medical services using a fraudulent degree.
Several prescriptions were collected from patients attending the chamber, revealing recommendations for various medicines and medical tests beyond his authorized scope.
When questioned, Mahmudul Hasan could not provide satisfactory proof of the authenticity of his MBBS degree. He informed the local Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer that he was only authorized to provide primary care for minor ailments such as fever, cold, cough, and headache, making the prescription of tests beyond his authority.
Relevant certificates and records were seized during the raid for further investigation.
In a separate operation, an ACC enforcement team from the headquarters carried out a raid at the Dhaka Metro-1 Circle office of the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) in Mirpur, following allegations that an individual obtained employment using a fake certificate and engaged in other irregularities.
The suspect's statements were recorded, and employment-related documents were collected from the BRTA headquarters.
The ACC said a comprehensive report on the findings from both operations will be submitted to the commission after reviewing the collected documents.
