DHAKA, Feb 23, 2026 (BSS) – Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed today said that he has instructed authorities concerned to take prompt and appropriate measures to end the sufferings of individuals who were irrationally accused in cases filed after the August 5, 2024.
Speaking to reporters after attending a meeting with the chiefs of all forces under the Home Ministry at the Bangladesh Secretariat, the minister said that some cases were lodged by “opportunists” targeting individuals who had no involvement in the incidents concerned.
“Some cases were filed after August 5 (in 2024). Some opportunists filed the cases against those who were in no way involved in the incident. They included many business tycoons and well-known figures of society,” he said.
The minister emphasized that the government is committed to ensuring that innocent people are not harassed through false litigation.
He said authorities have been directed to conduct thorough scrutiny of the cases and take necessary legal steps where allegations are found to be baseless.
“I have already instructed the authorities concerned to take appropriate measures after proper scrutiny so that those who were falsely implicated do not suffer any longer,” he added.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to the rule of law, the Home Minister said steps are being taken to prevent misuse of legal processes and to protect citizens from unjust harassment.
