DMP files 1,460 cases against traffic rule violations

DHAKA, Feb 25, 2026 (BSS) - The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan 
Police (DMP) has filed 1,460 cases against motor vehicles, owners and its 
drivers for violating traffic rules in a single day across the capital.

A media release of the DMP today said that they filed those cases and 
realized the money on Tuesday (February 24) through their regular drives 
against the traffic rule breakers.

A total of 275 motor vehicles were dumped and 180 vehicles were towed due to 
poor driving practices, said Talebur Rahman, deputy commissioner (Media and 
Public Relations Division) of the DMP.

Of the cases, Ramna division filed 92 while Lalbagh division registered 90, 
Motijheel traffic division filed 79, Wari division registered 235, Tejgaon 
division filed 142, Mirpur division filed 382, Uttara division registered 289 
and Gulshan division filed 151 against motor vehicles as well as three 
wheelers and motorcycles, it said.

"The drives will continue to ensure discipline on the city streets," the 
release said, adding that the DMP has been working to bring the traffic 
system under smooth in the capital for giving city dwellers easy movement.
