Reception held in honour of outgoing and newly appointed IGPs

DHAKA, Feb 25, 2026 (BSS) - A farewell and reception ceremony was held today at the Hall of Pride at Police Headquarters in honour of outgoing Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam and newly appointed IGP Md. Ali Hossain Fakir.

The event brought together senior officials of Bangladesh Police, including Additional IGPs, heads of various units of Dhaka Police, and other high-ranking officers.

Speakers at the function fondly recalled different aspects of the distinguished and colorful career of outgoing IGP Baharul Alam. 

They praised his leadership and dedication to duty, wishing him good health, long life, and continued success in the days ahead.

Welcoming the newly appointed IGP Md. Ali Hossain Fakir, speakers described him as a skilled and professional officer. 

They expressed optimism that under his leadership, the dignity and image of Bangladesh Police would be elevated to new heights.

In his speech, Baharul Alam expressed heartfelt gratitude to police officers and members for their sincere cooperation and support during his tenure. 

Referring to his successor as a competent and professional leader, he voiced confidence that the new IGP would further enhance the reputation of the force.

Addressing the gathering, Ali Hossain Fakir sought the cooperation of all members of the police force in carrying out his responsibilities. 

“We will strive for the development of the country and the maintenance of law and order,” he said.

The ceremony concluded with renewed commitment from police leadership to uphold professionalism and strengthen law enforcement efforts across the country.
