DHAKA, March 11, 2026 (BSS) - About 1.30 lakh applications for corrections in the National Identity Card (NID) are still pending with the Election Commission (EC).

"These applications will be processed quickly," said ASM Humayun Kabir, Director General of the National Identity Registration Wing of the EC.

The DG said that so far, around 12 lakh NID correction applications have been resolved since his tenure began. Before the NID correction program was postponed due to the 13th national election, 75,000 to 76,000 applications were pending.

He also noted that applicants do not need to visit the EC offices in person, as all correction requests will be handled in phases.
