DHAKA, March 27, 2026 (BSS) - To determine immediate measures to prevent road accidents and enhance overall road safety in the country, a high-level meeting has been scheduled on March 29.

Road Transport and Bridges Ministry will organize the meeting which will take place at the conference room of the Road Transport and Highways Division at Bangladesh Secretariat.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam will chair the meeting. 

State Minister for Road Transport and Highways Division and Railways Ministry Habibur Rashid and State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam will also attend the meeting, according to a PID handout.

Earlier on March 24, a high-level meeting was held under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahaman and he issued urgent directives to the authorities concerned to take immediate steps to ensure safety on roads. 

The upcoming meeting is being organised in light of those decisions and to review the progress of their implementation.

The meeting aims to ensure effective decision-making and swift implementation through the active participation of all relevant departments, agencies and stakeholders.

The government wants to assure people that it is committed to taking coordinated and effective measures to reduce road accidents, improve passenger services and enhance discipline and overall safety on the roads, said the handout.
