DHAKA, Mar 28, 2026 (BSS) – Commerce, Industries, Textiles and Jute Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir has expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Dilara Hafiz, spouse of Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikrom.

Dilara Hafiz passed away in Singapore today at the age of 78. 

She breathed her last at Singapore General Hospital at 1:29 pm (Singapore local time) while undergoing treatment.

In a message of condolence, the Commerce Minister expressed deep shock at the death of Dilara Hafiz and conveyed his deepest sympathy to the family members of the bereaved.

Dilara Hafiz is survived by her husband, a son, a daughter, grandchildren and a host of relatives and admirers.

The body of Dilara Hafiz will be brought to Bangladesh tomorrow evening. 
Her first namaz-e-janaza will be held at the South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad at 11 am on March 30, followed by burial at Banani Military Graveyard after the second namaz-e-janaza at the Central Mosque in Cantonment after Zuhr prayers.
