Two deaths from measles, 974 suspected new cases reported in 24 hours

DHAKA, April 5, 2026 (BSS) - Two more children died after being infected with measles while 974 suspected new cases were found in the last 24 hours ending at   8am today, according to a press release of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

It said 10 suspected deaths were reported while 54 cases were confirmed through laboratory testing during the period.

From March 15 to April 5, the total number of confirmed measles cases stands at 929, while the number of suspected cases stood at 7,610.

During the same period, 17 people have died from confirmed measles infections, and 113 deaths have been reported from suspected measles cases.

The highest number of suspected measles cases was reported in the Dhaka Division, where a total of 3,259 children were infected. Among them, 468 cases have been laboratory-confirmed as measles.

From March 15 to April 5, a total of 3,380 patients have recovered from the disease.
