Brazil supports Bangladesh’s candidate for UNGA presidency

DHAKA, April 13, 2026 (BSS) – Brazil has extended its support to Bangladesh’s candidate foreign minister Dr Khalilur Rahman for the presidency of the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). 

The support was conveyed by Brazilian Ambassador to Bangladesh Paulo Fernando Dias Feres during a meeting with Prime Minister’s (PM’s) Adviser on Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir at the Prime Minister’s Office in the capital today, said a press release here. 

During the meeting, the two sides held discussions on the existing friendly relations between Bangladesh and Brazil, as well as on issues of mutual interest and avenues to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.

They also exchanged views on expanding cooperation in trade and commerce, agriculture, the poultry industry and other key sectors.

The meeting was held in a cordial and friendly atmosphere.
