
DHAKA, Apr 13, 2026 (BSS) – Comprehensive, multi-layered security measures have been implemented across the country with deployment of police, RAB and other law enforcement agencies to ensure a safe and festive Pahela Boishakh celebrations.
Additional Inspector General of RAB, Ahsan Habib Palash, after inspecting arrangements at Ramna Batamul, said today, “RAB has been ensuring security at major national and cultural events since its inception. This year, we are fully prepared to provide a safe and secure environment for all.”
All 15 RAB battalions have been deployed nationwide, with 308 patrol teams—181 pickup patrols and 127 motorcycle units—on duty. Plainclothes personnel are conducting intelligence surveillance, while bomb disposal units and dog squads have already carried out sweeping operations and remain on high alert.
Special security arrangements have been put in place at key venues including TSC, Shahbagh, Suhrawardy Udyan, Rabindra Sarobar, Hatirjheel, Manik Mia Avenue, Shishu Academy, and Ramna Batamul. Measures include check posts, observation posts, mobile patrols, CCTV monitoring, standby reserve forces, and special commando teams.
Palash emphasized public cooperation, saying, “Ensuring a safe celebration is a shared responsibility. We seek the cooperation of all citizens to uphold the spirit of Pahela Boishakh.”
RAB has also installed control rooms nationwide and strengthened cyber monitoring to prevent rumors and misinformation. Special focus has been placed on preventing harassment, particularly against women, with citizens urged to report incidents immediately.
Meanwhile, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has divided the capital into 9 sectors and 14 sub-sectors, deploying uniformed and plainclothes officers along with SWAT, Bomb Disposal, K-9, DB, CTTC, and Mounted Police units.
Acting DMP Commissioner Md Sarwar said large crowds are expected at Ramna Park, Dhaka University, Hatirjheel, and other major venues. Security measures include barricades at 14 key points, archways, metal detectors, drones, rooftop surveillance, and observation towers.
Temporary police control rooms and “Lost and Found” centers will be set up, while strict guidelines prohibit use of masks, bags, sharp objects, flammable materials, fireworks, sky lanterns, and whistles.
The Chhayanaut programme will run from 6:15 am to 8:25 am at Ramna Batamul, followed by the Boshakhi Shobhajatra at 9:00 am from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Dhaka University, under tight security.
Traffic restrictions will begin from 5:00 am in key areas, with alternative routes advised. Emergency services—including fire, ambulance, medical teams, and naval divers—will remain on standby.
At a recent high-level meeting led by Home Secretary Manzur Morshed Chowdhury, authorities finalized nationwide coordination plans involving law enforcement and administrative agencies.
He stressed the importance of a peaceful environment, saying all measures must reflect cultural heritage while prioritizing safety.
Officials confirmed enhanced surveillance, controlled entry points, public awareness campaigns, and support facilities such as temporary toilets, drinking water, and uninterrupted electricity supply.
Authorities have urged citizens to cooperate and report any suspicious activity via emergency hotline 999 or nearby police booths to ensure a peaceful, inclusive, and joyous celebration.
