DHAKA, April 14, 2026 (BSS) - A solo photography exhibition by legendary photographer and Bangla Academy fellow Nasir Ali Mamun titled ‘Smriti-Bismritir Mukhochhobi’ has begun at Bangla Academy.

The exhibition was inaugurated this morning at the Nazrul Stage of the academy.

The event was chaired by Bangla Academy President Abul Kashem Fazlul Haq.

Abul Kashem Fazlul Haq said that Nasir Ali Mamun is a well-known name among the educated society of the country and Bengalis living abroad are also familiar with his work.

Over the years, Mamun has been building a historic visual archive through the collection, preservation, and production of significant photographs, he added.

He further said that by preserving photographs of various writers and literary figures, Mamun is creating a valuable repository for future generations, which will inspire renewed interest and curiosity about literary personalities among the youth.

Bangla Academy Director General Mohammad Azam said Mamun has long been a familiar figure to the people of the country. “Personally, I have been acquainted with Mamun’s renowned portraits for the past three decades. Even after earning the title of ‘legendary photographer,’ he continues to work tirelessly, enriching the practice of photography in Bangladesh,” he said.

The exhibition, which began on April 14, will continue until April 30 at the Bardhaman House of Bangla Academy.

The exhibition features more than a hundred photographs of eminent late poets, writers, essayists, researchers, and fiction writers of Bangladesh. It also showcases some rare photographs of the National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam for visitors.
