DHAKA, April 23, 2026 (BSS) - Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Minister Dipen Dewan has expressed concern over a measles outbreak and child deaths in Kurukpata union of Alikadam upazila in Bandarban.

Speaking over the phone with the civil surgeon and district officials today, he ordered coordinated action to ensure treatment in the remote area.

He said health workers must stay on-site due to poor network coverage and ensure no one is deprived of care. The government will provide full support, he added.

The minister also stressed awareness campaigns in the Myanmar border areas and urged doctors to give special care to admitted patients.

He called on local representatives to support residents and raise awareness.

A government medical team is already providing treatment in the area. The minister directed continued services and monitoring until the situation improves.
