Nazrul’s127th birth anniversary to be celebrated with grand national arrangements: Cultural Minister

DHAKA, May 11, 2026 (BSS)- Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury today said the 127th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam will be celebrated nationwide through distinctive and aesthetic arrangements.

“Nazrul Islam is our national poet and we uphold his legacy. Initiatives have been taken to celebrate this year’s Nazrul birth anniversary in a more colorful, creative and aesthetic manner nationwide,” he said.

He made the remarks while addressing a preparatory meeting for the national programme at the office of the Trishal Upazila Nirbahi Officer in Mymensingh today.

The minister said the Ministry of Cultural Affairs would provide all-out support for the successful arrangement of the five-day programme and called on all to work together.

Organized by the district administration,Mymensingh Deputy Commissioner Md. Saifur Rahman chaired the meeting.

Parliament Member of Mymensingh-7 (Trishal) constituency Dr. Md. Mahbubur Rahman, Divisional Commissioner Farah Shammi and District Council Administrator Syed Emran Salehwere present at the event among the special guests.

Officials said the district administration, district council and relevant departments are jointly working to ensure the successful arrangements of the national programme, while several preparatory activities have already been completed.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Mahbubur Rahman MP expressed hope that this year’s celebration in Trishal would be the grandest and most festive Nazrul birth anniversary programme in recent memory.
