DHAKA, May 11, 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has warned that
strict legal action will be taken from next week against vehicles operating
without BRTA-issued registration number plates and RFID tags.

In a public notice issued today signed by Acting Commissioner Md Sarwar, the
DMP said many vehicles in the capital are either not using government-
prescribed number plates and RFID tags or are not attaching them properly.

Some vehicle owners are also using painted registration numbers instead of
approved number plates.

The police also noted that RFID tags installed on the windshields of many
vehicles have become ineffective, creating complications in traffic
management across the metropolis.

The DMP urged vehicle owners and drivers to install BRTA-issued number plates
of the prescribed design, color, and size in the designated places and ensure
that RFID tags are functional.

The metropolitan police sought cooperation from all concerned in maintaining
proper traffic management and enforcing the law.
