
DHAKA, May 11, 2026 (BSS)—The fourth day’s play of the first Test cricket between Bangladesh and Pakistan resumed after rain stopped the game for three and half hours at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium today.
The rain arrived shortly after the lunch break was taken. Bangladesh by then extended their overall lead to 120 runs after reaching 93-2 at lunch.
The morning session play saw Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mominul Haque dug in resolutely to steer Bangladesh after the side was reduced to 23-2.
They added 70 runs for the undefeated third wicket, denting Pakistan’s hope to take the baton of the game.
In a repeat of their first innings rearguard, Shanto and Mominul blunted Pakistan attack with unwavering resolve and kept Bangladesh safe.
In the first innings too, they came together when Bangladesh were struggling at 31-2 and then shared 170 runs to take the control of the game.
Resuming at seven for no loss, Bangladesh received an early blow when Mahmudul Hasan was trapped leg-before by pacer Mohammad Abbas for 5.
Pacer Hasan Ali dismissed Shadman Islam for 10, with Saud Shakeel taking a catch at gully after the batter was surprised by the extra bounce.
Mominul and Shanto batted with patience and aggression to regain the control, keeping Bangladesh on course of setting a challenging target.
Bangladesh earlier were bowled out for 413 in its first innings, before taking a 27-run lead, dismissing Pakistan for 386 with offspinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz taking 5-102.
