DHAKA, May 11, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today placed two people, including banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader Farhan Tanvir Nafi, on a one-day remand each in a case lodged over a flash rally in front of the Raju Sculpture at Dhaka University (DU).

The other remanded accused is Md Rubel Miah.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Ehsanul Islam passed the order as police produced the duo before the court and pleaded to place them on a seven-day remand in the case.

According to the case documents, leaders and activists of BCL, Jubo League and other front organisations of Awami League tried to stage a flash rally in the Dhaka University area at dawn on May 2. Acting on a tip-off, a team from Shahbagh Police Station raided the area at 6:15 am and detained the two.

Police later filed the case under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
