Four-day theatre festival begins at JU on May 13

JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, May 12, 2026 (BSS) - A four-day theatre festival 
titled "Natya Parban 2026" is set to begin on May 13 at Jahangirnagar 
University (JU) with the slogan "Raktim Dhara Suchi Hok Sanskritir 
Shuddhatay".

The festival, organised by the cultural organisation Jahangirnagar Theatre 
(TSC), will continue till May 16 at the Selim Al Deen Mukta Mancha on the 
university campus, organisers said at a press conference held at the 
Teachers-Students Centre (TSC) conference room this afternoon.

Office Secretary of the organisation Priyanka Karmakar said the festival has 
been arranged with a commitment to uphold culture as a refuge of humanity 
against war, violence, division and humanitarian crises across the world.

She said the main objective of the festival is to spread messages of humanity 
and peace through art, theatre and culture. The programme will feature 
inauguration ceremony, stage drama performances, reunion and film screening.

According to organisers, all events will begin at 7 pm every day at Selim Al 
Deen Mukta Mancha. 

The festival will open on May 13 with an inaugural ceremony. Jahangirnagar 
Theatre's production "Bidhibam" will be staged on May 14, while "Pake 
Bipake", produced by Padatik Natya Sangsad, will be staged on May 15.

The closing day programme will include a reunion and screening of the film 
"City of Death", scripted and directed by Moin Uddin Pathan.

The organisers invited culture enthusiasts, teachers, students and media 
personnel to attend the festival.
