Bangladesh keen to review Thailand’s education system: Bobby Hajjaj

DHAKA, May 13, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj today said Bangladesh is interested in conducting a comprehensive and practical review of Thailand’s education system at the initial stage. 

“To this end, there are plans to work on exchange of experiences between education experts of the two countries, observation of education administration and leadership-based training programmes,” he said.

The state minister said this while Ambassador of Thailand to Bangladesh Thitiporn Chirasawadi met him at his office at the ministry here, according to a PID release.

During the bilateral meeting, they discussed improvement of the quality of primary education in Bangladesh, teacher shortage and leadership-based training.

Welcoming the Thai envoy, the state minister said although many schools among the country’s around 65,000 government primary schools have achieved good results, there is still a need to further improve students’ learning abilities overall.

He said lack of teacher training and skilled leadership in particular creates challenges in improving the quality of education in many cases. In this regard, gaining direct knowledge about the effective aspects of Thailand’s education system could be helpful.

The ambassador assured full cooperation from Thailand in the development of primary education.

She said the sincerity and long-term planning of the Bangladesh government for the development of the primary education sector are highly commendable. In particular, improving students’ learning standards, teacher training and development of school leadership are very important initiatives.

She further said exchange of experiences in the education sector could be beneficial for both countries.

“We are interested in assisting Bangladesh regarding various activities, training methods and administrative experiences of our education system,” she said.

Primary and Mass Education Secretary Md. Shakhawat Hossain, Additional Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education Mohammad Atikur Rahman and officials of the Thai Embassy were present at the meeting.
