
NETROKONA, May 13, 2026 (BSS) – Jatiya Sangsad Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal today called upon the new generation to be more conscious about preserving the local culture and heritage.
“The languages, cultures, traditions, and lifestyles of Bangladesh’s ethnic minority communities are an important part of our national culture. The present government is working sincerely to preserve and develop this heritage,” he said.
The deputy speaker said these while addressing a views-exchange meeting following his visit to the Cultural Academy of the ethnic minority communities in Birishiri, in his constituency of Durgapur in the district, said a press release of Jatiya Sangsad.
Kamal said Birishiri Cultural Academy is not only a centre for cultural activities, but also a symbol of communal harmony and diversity.
The deputy speaker said that the Durgapur region of Netrokona is an area with immense potential for natural beauty, culture, and tourism.
Necessary support will continue to promote the culture of ethnic minority communities at both national and international levels.
State Minister for Railways Habibur Rashid, Netrokona-5 lawmaker Mashum Mostafa, railways, secretary, Bangladesh Railway Director General, government officials concerned and leaders of local units of BNP and its associate bodies were present on the occasion.
Later, a colourful cultural programme was held.
