MYMENSINGH, May 17, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj today said primary-level students will get a new curriculum in 2028 following the completion of the planning, training and piloting phases.
“The curriculum design will be completed within the next one year. Training for teachers under the new curriculum will be completed in 2027 and 2028,” he said.
The state minister made the remarks while addressing a meeting on sharing the baseline report of the pilot programme for improving language skills at the primary level, organised by the National Academy for Primary Education (NAPE) in Mymensingh this afternoon.
He said the standard of primary education would now be measured by how much students are actually learning.
Officials concerned would also be evaluated based on the effectiveness of classroom education, he added.
He stressed the need for improved washrooms and classroom facilities to ensure a better learning environment in schools.
Bobby Hajjaj said the new curriculum is being developed focusing on language, mathematics, city education, sports and culture.
“This curriculum will not remain confined to classrooms only,” he added.
He said future educational infrastructures, including schools, classrooms and washrooms, would be developed with emphasis on ensuring effective learning outcomes for students.
The state minister also said textbook preparation should be based on the target learners and their context.
“First, we need to determine for whom and in what context the textbooks are being prepared. Then we have to think about the learning outcomes. Everything should be designed based on learning outcomes,” he said.
“The key indicator will be how much we can teach and ensure students learn effectively,” he added.
Director General of NAPE Farid Ahmad and other officials were present at the event.
