5 more die with suspected measles in 24 hrs

DHAKA, May 18, 2026 (BSS) - Five more people have died with suspected measles in the past 24 hours across the country, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The information was disclosed in a press release issued today from the DGHS control room.

It said that 1,405 new suspected measles cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

From March 15 to May 18, the total number of suspected measles cases rose to 54,911.

During the same period, 42,868 suspected measles patients were admitted to hospitals, while 38,980 patients recovered and were discharged.

The release further said that a total of 389 deaths have been reported from suspected measles cases between March 15 and May 18, including the five deaths recorded in the last 24 hours.

It also said no death from confirmed measles was reported in the last 24 hours. However, 75 confirmed measles-related deaths were recorded during the period from March 15 to May 18.
