DHAKA, May 19, 2026 (BSS) - France has encouraged Bangladeshi students to
pursue higher education in French institutions, highlighting expanded
academic opportunities, English-taught programmes and scholarship support.

This was discussed when French Ambassador to Bangaldesh Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet
met Dhaka University Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Abdus Salam on Tuesday
and later interacted with students on the campus, said an embassy's press
release here.

During the meeting, discussions focused on promoting higher education
opportunities in France, particularly through Campus France and the services
it provides to international students.

The pro-vice-chancellor stressed the importance of student mobility and
appreciated the continued support of the French Embassy through various
Campus France initiatives.

He also praised the contribution of French expert Dr Tonia Astrid Capuano,
who is working at the university's Department of Oceanography, saying her
role has strengthened academic and research activities.

Addressing students, the French ambassador encouraged them to consider France
as a destination for quality higher education, noting the growing number of
international students and availability of programmes taught in English.

He said Bangladesh should have stronger representation within the global
student community in France.

The ambassador also highlighted France's support for women's education and
scholarship opportunities, saying the country promotes inclusion and greater
opportunities for female students as part of its feminist foreign policy.

He advised students to rely on Campus France Bangladesh as the official
source of information regarding higher education opportunities in France.

While students retain full freedom in choosing universities, applications are
reviewed and validated through Campus France to ensure proper academic
guidance and support, he added.

The ambassador was accompanied by Cultural Attach, of the French Embassy
Baptiste Lebret, Country Head of Campus France Bangladesh Syeda Naasiba
Hossain and oceanographer Dr Tonia Astrid Capuano.
