DHAKA, May 20, 2026 (BSS) - US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T. Christensen today launched 50 red, white and blue-painted rickshaws in Dhaka to commemorate America's 250th independence anniversary and underscore the growing US-Bangladesh partnership.

The US Embassy in Dhaka shared photographs on its official Facebook page showing the ambassador riding one of the decorated rickshaws in the capital.

The initiative comes ahead of July 4, 2026, when the United States will celebrate 250 years of independence.

Marking the occasion, US President Donald Trump said, "With a single sheet of parchment and 56 signatures, America began the greatest political journey in human history."

The embassy said the colourful rickshaws symbolise friendship, cultural connection and enduring ties between Bangladesh and the United States.
