Information Minister leaves Dhaka for China

DHAKA, June 7, 2026 (BSS) - Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon today left Dhaka for China on an official visit at the invitation of the Chinese government.

On the occasion of the visit, the Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen paid a courtesy call on the Information Minister at the VIP lounge of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the city. During the visit, they held brief discussions on various issues related to the visit.

During the visit, the Information and Broadcasting Minister will participate in the '5th CMG Forum' organised by China Media Group, scheduled to be held from June 8-11.

Additionally, during the visit, an important bilateral meeting between Bangladesh Information Minister and the Chinese Information Minister is expected to take place.

In this high-level meeting, fruitful discussions are expected on various issues, including cooperation in information management and media sectors between the two countries, the development of digital communication systems, and information exchange.
There are plans for policy-level discussions regarding the possibility of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Bangladesh and China on information management.
