One  more dies of dengue, 139 hospitalized

DHAKA, June 22, 2026 (BSS) - One more person died from dengue in the last 24 hours, while 139 new patients were admitted to hospitals across the country during the same period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). 

Of the newly hospitalized patients, 46 were admitted in Barishal division, 14 in Chattogram division, 12 in Dhaka division (outside city corporation areas), 16 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 21 in Dhaka South City Corporation, one in Mymensingh division, nine in Rajshahi division, three in Sylhet division and 16 in Khulna division.
 
During the period, 124 dengue patients were released from hospitals after recovery, raising the total number of recoveries to 4,692 this year.

Since January 1, a total of 5,039 dengue cases have been recorded across the country, of which 62.6 percent were male and 37.4 percent female.

The death toll from the mosquito-borne disease has risen to 10 this year.

According to the DGHS data, Bangladesh recorded 102,861 dengue cases and 413 deaths in 2025, while 101,214 people were infected and 575 died from the disease in 2024.
