Farzana Sharmin arrives in Colombo to attend conference

DHAKA, June 22, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Social Welfare Farzana Sharmin has arrived in Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, to attend a South Asian ministerial conference to represent Bangladesh.

The conference is aimed at preventing violence against children, strengthening child protection systems and enhancing regional cooperation among South Asian countries.

The ministerial conference titled "Advancing the Agenda to End Violence Against Children in South Asia", scheduled to be held on June 23-24.

Charge d'Affaires of the Bangladesh Embassy in Sri Lanka Samarpan Barua received the Bangladeshi State Minister at Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo.

The conference will feature discussions on protecting children's rights, formulating sustainable policies for child welfare, enhancing regional cooperation and sharing experiences among participating countries.
