
DHAKA, June 22, 2026 (BSS) - The Dhaka University Day-2026 will be observed on July 1 with the theme "Restoration of Democracy and Dhaka University in Higher Education."
As part of the programme, teachers, students, officials and employees will gather at 9:30 am on July 1 at the Smriti Chirantan Chattar adjacent to the Vice-Chancellor's residence.
A colourful procession, led by the Vice-Chancellor, will be brought out at 9:45 am and end at the Payra Chattar in front of the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC).
National flag, Dhaka University flag and hall flags will be hoisted at the Payra Chattar at 10:00 am, followed by the national anthem and inaugural songs.
A discussion will be held at 10:30 am at the TSC auditorium with the Vice-Chancellor in the chair.
A special souvenir will be published on the occasion, while decorative gates will be erected at different entry points of the university.
A preparatory meeting in this regard was held today at the Professor Abdul Matin Chowdhury Virtual Classroom on the university campus with DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam in the chair.
The Dhaka University began its academic journey on July 1, 1921.
Pro-VC (Academic) Professor Dr. Abdus Salam, Pro-VC (Admin) Professor Dr. Mohammed Almujaddade Alfasane, Treasurer Professor Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury and members of different sub-committees were also present at the meeting.
The VC called upon all concerned to extend wholehearted cooperation to ensure a smooth, peaceful and festive celebration of the day.
He also urged everyone to work together to enhance the university's reputation in the international arena through the development of education and research and maintaining a conducive academic environment.
