The BNP government has set a target of planting 25 crore saplings within five years. It also announced the "One Child, One Tree" initiative to involve every child in tree planting each year. As part of this initiative, a new nationwide greening campaign has begun in educational institutions. Under the programme, the Ministry of Education plans to plant five crore trees in school, college, and madrasa campuses over the next five years. Of the 29,621 institutions, 18,907 are schools, 1,446 are schools and colleges, and 9,268 are madrasas.

To support this initiative, each educational institution receives an annual climate awareness grant of BDT 5,000. This year, under the programme, every institution will plant one fruit tree, one timber tree, and one medicinal tree.

Ministers, state ministers, deputy ministers, members of parliament, local government representatives, distinguished citizens, students, teachers, and parents will participate directly in the tree-plantation drives at their respective institutions. The main event will also be broadcast live on large screens at every educational institution.

Participants at each institution will be able to join the event live through video conferencing with the Prime Minister.

Since the event is designed to be participatory, attendees will have the opportunity to share their views and experiences directly.

Educational institutions are requested to make the necessary preparations to ensure the successful observance of the event.

They should display climate awareness banners, festoons, and other promotional materials on campus. In addition, each institution will organize a rally involving teachers and students to mark the tree-planting campaign.
