DGHS reports 4 overnight deaths with measles symptoms as inflictions continued

DHAKA, June 29, 2026 (BSS) – Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) today reported deaths of four more children with measles symptoms in past 24 hours when 1,145fresh cases of infliction were recorded throughout the country.

According to the DGHS statement all the four died of measles symptoms but those were not confirmed through laboratory tests.

The directorate said the total deaths caused by measles or measles symptoms since March 15 now stood at 716 while it recorded 11,851 laboratory-tested and confirmed measles cases nationwide since the outbreak intensified on March 15, 2026.

Over the past three months 83,806 suspected measles patients were admitted to hospitals while 80,193 recovered and were discharged.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) children under five years old accounted for roughly 81 percent of all confirmed cases while the surveillance analysis indicated most were either entirely unvaccinated or had only received a single partial dose.
