DHAKA, July 14, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Health Dr. M A Muhit today stressed the need for a digital health app and advanced international training for grassroots health workers and young physicians to improve women's healthcare across the country.

"We are fully committed to prioritising women's health. We will ensure healthcare services reach people's doorsteps," he said while addressing a seminar titled "Her Health Bangladesh: Accelerating Women's Health and Well-being through Strengthening the National Maternal Health and Cervical and Breast Cancer Programme" at the CIRDAP auditorium in the capital.

The seminar was jointly financed by the Government of Bangladesh and the European Investment Bank with support from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

Dr. Muhit said the project's "Digital Health and Innovation" component is vital for modernising healthcare services.

He proposed developing a two-way digital application with separate interfaces for patients and healthcare providers to facilitate grassroots data collection, follow-up reminders and health education.

Prime Minister's Special Assistant on Health Affairs S M Ziauddin Hyder also addressed the seminar and outlined a plan to integrate the country's three categories of frontline health workers into a single workforce under the title "Community Health Worker" to strengthen grassroots healthcare delivery.

Additional Secretary (Planning) Shah Imam Ali Reza, UNFPA Bangladesh Representative Catherine Breen Camacho and Additional Director General (Planning and Development) of the Directorate General of Health Services Prof. Dr. Fowara Tasneem, among others, attended the seminar.
