Three more children die of suspected measles

DHAKA, Sep 07, 2026 (BSS) - Three more children died with measles symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours, taking the number of deaths from confirmed measles and suspected measles to 997 between March 15 and September 7.

The information was disclosed through a press release issued today by the control room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

It said 1,156 suspected measles cases were reported in the past 24 hours, while the number of suspected cases stood at 165,304 from March 15 to September 7.

The number of confirmed measles cases in the past 24 hours was 60, while the total number of confirmed cases since March 15 reached 19,756.

From March 15 to September 7, a total of 145,270 patients with suspected measles were admitted to hospitals. During the same period, 139,831 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals.

Three children died from suspected measles in the past 24 hours, while a total of 897 children have died from suspected measles since March 15.

There were no deaths from confirmed measles in the past 24 hours. Since March 15, a total of 100 people have died from confirmed measles.
