Health officials report 1,571 fresh cases of dengue infection, 9 deaths overnight

DHAKA, Sept 08, 2026 (BSS) - Health officials today said they recorded 1,571 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts killing at least nine persons in the past 24 hours.

“During the period, (of the 1,571) 157 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division, 177 in Chattogram division, 408 in Dhaka division, 134 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 196 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 242 in Khulna division, 77 in Mymensingh division, 116 in Rajshahi division, 71 in Rangpur division and eight in Sylhet division, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts Bangladesh this year witnessed so far 130 deaths while the disease inflicted 45,475.

The dengue last year claimed 413 lives and inflicted 1,02,861 people in the country.

Besides, the dengue claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in 2024.
