DHAKA, Sept 8, 2026 (BSS)- BanglaFact, the Fact Check and Media Research Team of the Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB), has identified five people allegedly involved in an attack on actress Azmeri Haque Badhon in Italy on Monday.

According to BanglaFact, the five were identified from videos of the incident.

Its investigation team said all five are active in banned Awami League and Chhatra League politics in Italy.

Badhon, who is currently in Italy to attend an international film festival, was harassed and physically assaulted while she was out with her brother.

The incident went viral on social media, triggering reactions in Bangladesh and abroad and prompting demands for action against those involved.

BanglaFact said Badhon had spoken out against the violence during the July 2024 Mass Uprising and expressed support for the students' demands.

It also noted an increase in the spread of false and misleading information about Bangladesh through social media following the 2024 mass uprising, targeting various political parties and groups.
