
DHAKA, Sept 8, 2026 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized drugs, firearms, fertiliser
and smuggled Indian goods in separate drives along different border areas, arresting two people.
The BGB disclosed the information through eight press releases issued tonight.
In Dinajpur, 42 BGB recovered two yaba tablets and two bicycles from Betura area of Biral on
September 7. The battalion also seized 14 bottles of Indian liquor from Dakshin Torra in Haripur,
Thakurgaon, on September 8.
In Kushtia, 47 BGB seized 5,760 packets of Indian bidis and a mobile phone from Morar Para, with an
estimated value of Tk 3.18 lakh.
Sultanpur Battalion (60 BGB) seized Indian fuska, cattle, cumin, fireworks, sarees, Escap syrup and
liquor worth around Tk 80.56 lakh in separate operations in Brahmanbaria and Cumilla.
In Lalmonirhat, 61 BGB recovered 21kg of Indian cannabis worth Tk 73,500 from Munshitarai area.
In Cox's Bazar, 34 BGB seized 14,000 Burmese yaba tablets and arrested CNG driver Mohammad Nur, 26,
at Rezukhal Checkpost. In a separate drive, the battalion recovered a locally made pistol, a
single-barrel gun and four rounds of ammunition.
In Sylhet, 19 BGB seized Indian cosmetics, cattle, buffaloes, tea leaves, chocolates and stones
worth around Tk 39.65 lakh from Jaintapur and Kanaighat border areas.
In Teknaf, 2 BGB seized five sacks of fertiliser and a hand-operated wooden boat allegedly used to
smuggle the goods to Myanmar through the Naf River.
Meanwhile, a joint BGB-DNC operation in Joypurhat arrested Mohammad Saddam Hossain, 31, and seized
100 Tapentadol tablets and a Vivo smartphone worth Tk 33,000.
Legal proceedings are underway in the respective cases.
