DHAKA, Sept 9, 2026 (BSS) – Two-day training of trainers began at the Madhumati Auditorium of the Department of Social Services to provide training to data collectors and supervisors engaged in the nationwide family card programme.
Minister for Social Welfare Professor Dr AZM Zahid Hossain attended the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest.
State Minister for Social Welfare Barrister Farzana Sharmin and Secretary of the ministry Dr Mohammad Abu Yusuf, among others, spoke at the programme with Director General of the Department of Social Services Shah Mohammad Mahbub in the chair.
Dr AZM Zahid said that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and the government have made the Family Card their priority project. “We are determined to complete the implementation of the Family Card flawlessly.”
“The foundation of this work is data collection. Those engaged in this work must therefore be provided with appropriate training. We believe the trainers will receive the training with sincerity and subsequently provide training to the data collectors and supervisors in phases,” he said.
Mentioning that as the trainers are regular government staff, their responsibility is even greater, he said, “You [trainers] will provide training for the next four years. Your responsibility is not limited to providing training; you will also have to play a role in ensuring that the Family Card distribution programme is properly implemented at the field level.”
State Minister Farzana Sharmin said the Family Card is the most important project of the incumbent government. “The project was launched just ten days after the present government took oath. We received guidance from the piloting of the project, and the training conducted in light of that guidance will be 100 percent successful,” she said.
