DHAKA, March 29, 2026 (BSS) - All educational institutions across the country have been urged to cooperate in organizing the 'Notun Kuri Sports' programme, scheduled to begin in April 2026.

According to a letter published today on the website of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, institutions have been instructed to ensure participation of talented student athletes aged between 12 and 14 years to support the effective implementation of the initiative.

The letter states that the Ministry of Youth and Sports has launched the 'Notun Kuri Sports' programme to identify promising young athletes from across the country through grassroots-level competitions. Selected participants will receive training to help them develop into skilled athletes capable of competing at national and international levels.

The programme will include competitions in football, cricket, chess, martial arts, badminton, athletics, and kabaddi. Necessary preparations have already been completed for its launch in April.

To ensure smooth implementation, the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education has been asked to facilitate school-based participation nationwide, encourage student involvement, and allow the use of institutional facilities to identify talented athletes within the specified age group.

The letter also instructed relevant authorities to take necessary steps in line with these directives. It has been distributed to all regional directors, deputy directors, and district education officers under the Directorate.
